Daniel Nagati promoted to Associate at BSE Structural Engineers

We are thrilled to announce our recent promotion to the BSE leadership team! Daniel Nagati, PE, has been promoted to Associate at BSE Structural Engineers. As part of BSE’s management team, Daniel provides leadership of the production staff, including mentoring, scheduling, and development of standards. His leadership skills are evident while working on large-scale projects in healthcare, hospitality, mixed-use, multi-family, warehouse, and industrial markets. Specific notable projects include, Wheatfield Village Apartments, Project Anchor – Costco, Metro Air Park 6, Treasure Valley Hospital Ambulatory Surgery Center, Farpoint San Antonio Indoor Vertical Farm, and Leawood Village Mixed-Use, to name a few.  

Daniel graduated from the University of Kansas in May 2010 with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering and in July of 2012 with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering. Daniel enjoys cooking, skiing, and competing in trivia events when not working.

Casey Potter, PE, SE, promoted to Senior Structural Engineer

Congratulations to Casey Potter on her promotion to Senior Structural Engineer and for her hard work and dedication at BSE! We are proud to have her as part of our structural engineering team. Casey interned for two summers before joining the BSE team full-time upon graduation from Kansas State University in 2015. She provides excellent leadership and project management on some of BSE’s most notable markets, such as healthcare, mixed-use, recreation, restaurants, retail, warehouse and industrial, and specialty structural design projects. Casey tells us, “My favorite projects have included various Chicken N’ Pickle projects, Meierotto Jewelers, Manhattan Community Centers, and Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute Addition.”

We are thrilled to have her as another of BSE’s top-notch structural engineers.

Welcome to the team Ryan!

BSE Structural Engineers is excited to welcome Ryan Kubr to our team as a Structural Engineer. A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Omaha, with a Master of Architectural Engineering, structural focus (2012) and a BS Architectural Engineering (2011), Ryan moved to Kansas City after graduating and has remained here ever since. Before joining BSE, Ryan’s experience included ten years in glass and glazing systems engineering, including curtain wall, storefront, panel systems, and glass rail and fin wall products, working with glazing contractors, manufacturers, and architects nationwide.

When not designing structural systems, Ryan enjoys spending his free time following auto racing, driving in local SportsCar Club of America (SCCA) autocross events, and traveling to national parks, racetracks, and other destinations for photography opportunities.

Congrats to BSE’s Newest Licensed Engineer!

Congratulations to Ryan Duren on becoming BSE’s newest licensed structural engineer and for his recent promotion to Senior Structural Engineer.  Ryan recently passed the structural engineering exams to become a licensed professional engineer and structural engineer in the state of Kansas. Ryan is a valuable part of the growing BSE team as a project manager and structural engineer.  He joined BSE in June 2017 and had worked at BSE previously as a summer intern.  Ryan graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering in 2016 and a Master of Architectural Engineering in May 2017.  Some of Ryan’s recent projects have included Lenexa Justice Center, US Engineering Metalworks Facility, along with several million square feet of tilt-up warehouses nationwide for major brands including Walmart, Lowes, Amazon, SC Johnson, and Chewy.

Welcome to the Team, Alex!

BSE Structural Engineers welcomes Alex Trujillo as a Structural Engineer. Alex graduated from the University of Kansas in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and has previous experience as a structural engineering intern. Alex is originally from Lawrence, KS and when not working, he enjoys baking and playing jazz piano.

Meet our Newest Employees

Kyle Bauer joins BSE as a structural engineer. Kyle graduated with Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and a Master of Science with a structural engineering focus from Kansas State University in May 2021. Kyle has a year of previous experience as a structural engineer, along with two summer internships. He grew up in Wichita and relocated to Kansas City after graduation. Kyle spends most of his free time playing for a men’s ultimate frisbee team in Kansas City. He also enjoys playing board and card games with friends and family, snow skiing and traveling.

Matthew Howard joins BSE as a structural engineer. Matthew graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering with a focus on Structures in May of 2022. Matthew worked as an intern with an architecture firm in his hometown in Arkansas and as Math Tutor at Stillwater Middle School. Matthew is originally from Benton, Arkansas and relocated to Kansas City from Stillwater, OK after graduating to join BSE. In his free time, Matthew enjoys hiking, building model airplanes, and playing badminton.

Tyson Gough joins BSE as a design technician. Tyson graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in May 2011, and he will complete his certificate in Computer Aided Drafting & Design from Metropolitan Community College in fall 2022. Tyson previously worked in the architectural millwork industry in Kansas City for the last 10 years. As a millworker, he learned how to read and build from shop drawings and was inspired by that experience to go back to school to study drafting & design. Tyson enjoys drawing, woodworking, playing the guitar, and working on projects with his wife at their 1890s home.

Andrew Graves joins BSE as a design technician. Andrew received his Computer Aided Drafting & Design Certification in May 2022 and he will graduate with an Associates in Engineering Technology with a primary focus in Computer Aided Drafting from Metropolitan Community College in May 2023. Andrew is from the Kansas City area and enjoys spending time with his family, going to Table Rock Lake, and hiking.

Hunter Lanier joins BSE as a structural engineer. Hunter graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with a focus on structures in May 2020. Hunter has two years of previous experience as a structural engineer. He is originally from Newton, Kansas and enjoys spending time outdoors, working with cattle, exercising, and training mixed martial arts.

Josh Huenefeld Promoted to Principal at BSE Structural Engineers

BSE Structural Engineers is proud to announce the promotion of Josh Huenefeld, PE, SE to Principal/Owner.  Josh joins the current principals Steve Busey, PE and Kevin Boehringer, PE, SE. 

Josh recently celebrated 10 years with BSE. Josh joined BSE in 2011 as a summer intern and then hired on full-time after graduating in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University. Josh has been an asset since he joined our team and has made his mark as a leader with his work ethic, dedication to providing the highest level of design and the training and mentoring he provides to our team.

Josh leads the production team and has served as a project manager and structural engineer on a wide variety of projects including commercial, healthcare, mixed-use, recreation, senior living and warehouse and industrial projects. In addition, Josh has been integral in developing our design standards and processes.

Meet our Summer Interns

Andrew Graves, Jessica Diehm, Makayla Hodson, Jada Duke, Cameron Hicks

BSE Structural Engineers is proud to introduce our summer interns.  BSE has been fortunate to have three structural engineering interns and two design technician interns this summer.

Jessica Diehm is a structural engineering intern. Jessica graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering in May 2022 and will continue her education at KU this fall to receive her Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering. Jessica is from Olathe, KS and enjoys spending time in nature, listening to music, and spending time with friends.  

Jada Duke is a structural engineering intern. Jada will graduate from Oklahoma State University in December 2023.with a degree in Architectural Engineering with a focus in Construction Project Management. At OSU, Jada is a Teaching Assistant for Statics and is also a member of the National Society of Black Engineers. Jada is from Oklahoma City, OK where she grew up playing soccer and her favorite treat is Braum’s Cookies ‘n’ Cream ice cream.

Andrew Graves is a design technician intern. Andrew will graduate from Metropolitan Community College in May 2023 with an Associate in Applied Science degree in Engineering Technology and CAD certification. Andrew is from Platte City, MO and enjoys hiking, spending time at Table Rock Lake and spending time with his family.

Cameron Hicks is a structural engineering intern. Cameron will graduate with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University in May 2024.Cameron is from Lee’s Summit, MO. Outside of work, I am a CrossFit coach and athlete. He also enjoys golfing and he loves to build custom furniture.

Makayla Hodson is a design technician intern. Makayla will graduate in May 2023 from the University of Central Missouri with a major in Design and Drafting Technology with an emphasis in Architectural/ Structural Design. At UCM, Makayla is the Treasurer of the American Institute of Building Design and Design and Drafter’s Student Association. Makayla is from Knob Noster, MO and likes to online shop, travel, and spend time with her friends and family.

Announcing our Latest Promotion

We are thrilled to announce our recent promotion to the BSE leadership team!  Travis Jennings, PE, has been promoted to Associate at BSE Structural Engineers.  Travis is a project manager and senior structural engineer with over 9 years of experience. Travis graduated from Kansas State University in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.

Travis provides leadership on a variety of projects including commercial, education, mixed-use and retail, warehouse and industrial, and exterior façade systems. In addition, Travis provides management of the production staff, including mentoring, scheduling and development of standards. Since joining BSE Structural Engineers in 2016, Travis has provided design on multiple large scale, complex tilt-up concrete structures and has become a leader of BSE Structural Engineer’s tilt-up concrete work.  Travis serves as a member and Treasurer for the Tilt-Up Industry Leaders of Tomorrow (T.I.L.T.) Young Professional Group for the Tilt-Up Concrete Association.

Welcome to the Team, Eric and Alec!

Eric Fletcher and Alec Berger

BSE Structural Engineers is excited to welcome Eric Fletcher and Alec Berger to our team.

Eric Fletcher joins BSE as a structural engineer. Eric graduated from Kansas State University in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis. Eric has 5 years of experience in light industrial, federal, and a variety of other building projects. He relocated to Kansas City from Tacoma, Washington where he worked for a civil and structural engineering firm. Eric is originally from Topeka, Kansas, so he was glad to move to the Kansas City area to be closer to family. Outside of work, Eric enjoys hiking, traveling, investing, and reading.

Alec Berger joins BSE as a design technician.  Alec completed a Computer Aided Drafting and Design (C.A.D.D.) Certificate from Metropolitan Community College in December 2020. Alec previously worked with schools and non-profit organizations before deciding to make a career change to drafting and design. Alec moved to Kansas City three years ago from Lafayette, Indiana. When not working, Alec enjoys camping, hiking and other outdoor activities.
