Waterpark Making Big Splash For Visually Impaired Patrons

In the July/August 2013 issue of The World Waterpark Association’s publication, World Water Park Magazine, Lions Water Adventure at Woodmen Community Center in Kinston, NC is praised for creating the first waterpark specifically designed to accommodate individuals with visual impairments.

BSE Structural Engineers provided engineering services for all three waterslides at Lions Water Adventure. The slides are manufactured by Avalanche Waterslides and provide three different experiences for riders to enjoy.

Each waterslide is 32-feet-high and bold in color. They are individually designed to provide a safe, fun experience for everyone. The zebra slide is a twisted slide inner-tubes glide down. The signature lion slide plunges riders down through the lion’s mouth and into the pool. The special low-splash slide provides a way for visually and hearing impaired patrons to enjoy a stress-free ride.
