Justin Burgoon Promoted to Principal at BSE Structural Engineers

BSE Structural Engineers is pleased to announce the promotion of Justin Burgoon, PE, SE to Principal and Owner of the firm.  Justin joins the current principals Steve Busey, PE and Kevin Boehringer, PE, SE.

“Justin has developed into a leader in our company through his tireless work ethic, attention to detail, and dedication to producing quality of work” states Steve Busey, Principal.  “Kevin and I are honored to have him join the leadership team of BSE.”

Justin joined BSE in 2007 after graduating from Kansas State University, and quickly became an essential member of the team.  Justin has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Architectural Engineering.  With over a decade of structural engineering experience at BSE, Justin has been instrumental in the growth and development of our company.  He serves as a project manager on many of our projects, and provides management of the production staff, including mentoring, scheduling and development of standards.  He has managed some of the firm’s largest and most complex projects.  Some of his project highlights include The District at Lenexa City Center, Rock Chalk Park Stadium and Recreation Center, Boeing Office Buildings in Oklahoma City, Kansas; Avenue 81 Senior Living, Varsity House Apartments and Parking Garage in Lawrence, Kansas.

As firm principal, Justin’s focus will continue to be on the management of projects, and leadership and mentoring of the engineering staff.

Meet BSE Structural Engineer’s Summer Interns

BSE Structural Engineers has loved having four structural engineering interns and one design technician intern join our team this summer.

Colten Johnson is a structural engineering intern and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University in May of 2017. Previously, Colten had an internship at EBH & Associates overseeing concrete pours and providing structural detailing.  Colten is from Marion, KS and is actively involved in his church and fraternity, and has an interest in learning about other cultures/religions.   Colten enjoys spending time with his wife, Andrea, and traveling.

Kelsey Hailey is a structural engineering intern and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) in spring 2018.  Kelsey is on the MSOE Women’s Soccer Team.  Last summer Kelsey was an intern at Faith Technologies.  Kelsey is from Overland Park, Kansas and in her free time she likes to wakeboard, ski, spend time outdoors and hang out with her friends and family.

Mary Kaster is a structural engineering intern and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University in May of 2019.  At college, Mary is actively involved in Society of Women Engineers, Women in Engineering, and her sorority.  Mary is from Overland Park, Kansas and enjoys going to the lake with family and spending time with friends.

Veronica Vest is a structural engineering intern and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structures from Oklahoma State University in May of 2017.  Last summer Veronica worked at Cromwell Architects Engineers in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Veronica is the Vice President of both the Chi Epsilon and Architectural Engineering Institute chapters and is also the developer and head of Archiletics (architecture athletics). Veronica is in charge of organizing and drafting all architecture intramural teams and pick-up games.  Veronica is from Hot Springs, Arkansas and enjoys playing sports, camping or painting in her free time.

Alek Norman is a Design Technician intern and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Design & Drafting Technology from the University of Central Missouri in May 2017.  Alek is actively involved in intramural sports on campus.  He is from O’Fallon, Missouri and enjoys spending time with his friends and family.

BSE Structural Engineers Continues to Grow!

We are pleased to announce the addition of five new employees to our growing firm!

BSE Structural Engineers welcomes back Casey Stallbaumer as a Structural Engineer. The previous two summers she worked with us as an intern. Casey will graduate from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering in August 2015.  When she is not diligently working Casey enjoys archery, baking, and reading. We are excited about Casey’s return and look forward to her future contributions to BSE!

Jorge Ochoa joins BSE Structural Engineers as a Structural Engineer.  Jorge graduated from Kansas State University May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.  Jorge interned previously at Balfour Beatty Construction and also has manual labor experience with a construction company.  He enjoys watching movies, cooking, baking and trying out new restaurants.  He has recently moved to Kansas City and is looking forward to exploring the city!

Prescovie Anderson also joins BSE Structural Engineers as a Structural Engineer.  Prescovie graduated from Oklahoma State University in May of 2015, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering and a Minor in Mathematics. Prescovie previously worked as an intern with Engineering Inc., in Oklahoma City, where he learned the basics of structural forensics and provided inspections for various commercial and residential structures.  Prescovie enjoys hiking, running, reading crime novels, playing video games, and trying new restaurants. Last year Prescovie completed his first half marathon.

Nora Henderson joins BSE as Office Manager. Nora has over eleven years in Administrative and Office Manager roles from two public accounting firms.  She attended Emporia State University.  Nora enjoys cooking and baking.  She also loves to spend time outdoors including hunting, fishing, gardening, going for walks, sporting events or spending time around their fire pit with family and friends.  Her most recent endeavor is training for a 5K in the fall and then plans to work towards a 10K in the spring.

Jill Nolkemper joins our team in the Accounting Department.  Jill has over 20 years of experience in accounting and management.  Jill received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Missouri Kansas City and received her Masters of Business Administration from Rockhurst University.  Jill enjoys reading, walking, cooking and finding bargains at garage sales.  She and her husband, Doug, also enjoy spending time attending their three kids’ activities.
