When the $39 million Rock Chalk Park project is complete, the structure will be comprised of over 700 tons of rebar and 20,000 cubic-yards of concrete. By utilizing Revit, BSE Structural Engineers was able to virtually construct and communicate project structural design with Bliss Sports, Paul Werner Architects and Gould Evans. The BIM technology utilized by the design team has provided increased coordination efficiency during the design phase that will continue to help throughout the construction of the project. The University of Kansas Athletic Department is hoping to have Rock Chalk Park open for the 2014 Track Relays, which gives the project a one year completion time-line.
