Structural engineering analysis, design and detailing of 52,000 SF Air Force Academy project, which involved renovation and modernization of departments to improve both functionality and comfort in order to provide an elite level of care. The extensive list of clinics includes Women’s Health, Allergy/Immunization, Nuclear Medicine, Radiology, Mammography, C.T. Scan, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Sleep Lab, and Physical Therapy. Structural design consisted of reinforcing of the existing concrete structural system for new equipment, different loading conditions, and new openings through the floors and roof. Infill of existing floor openings was provided to accommodate the new floor plan modifications. Design features were implemented that allowed the building to become eligible for USGBC LEED-CI v2.0 certification.
