McCormick Distribution Center

Structural engineering analysis, design and detailing of 1.8 million SF warehouse and distribution facility for McCormick. The building has a minimum structural clear height of 36’-0” in the warehouse and 20’-0” clear height below the pre-pack mezzanine and office areas. The building was constructed of insulated tilt-up wall panels, steel bar joist & joist girder roof framing, and concrete shallow foundations. The building was separated by two Maximum Fire Loss (MFL) walls, three (3) expansion joints in the short direction, and one (1) in the long direction. Miscellaneous design items included meeting FM Global design requirements, canopies, office and mezzanine composite steel framing, precast lids at hazmat areas, guard shack foundation, Central Utility Plant (CUP) foundations, and structural slab on grade design to fully integrate future loading criteria and automation.
