1900 Shawnee Mission Parkway - Addition and Parking Structure

Westwood, Kansas

Architect:  RMTA

This unique project required BSE to perform a structural assessment of an existing 1960’s 2-story concrete office structure to support a new third level. The original building was designed for a future third level. BSE developed a transfer system of steel framing in order to integrate new structure to existing. This allowed for significant architectural design freedom resulting in a dynamic third floor layout that included both interior and exterior perimeter spaces for this 90,000 SF renovation and addition. In addition to the main building renovation, BSE designed a separate 2-story concrete parking structure on the same site. BSE also provided structural assessment of the concrete floor systems for interior improvements to carry new partition loads and design features.  The project was designed for LEED Gold Level certification.  In addition, the project received The Concrete Promotional Group 2015 Excellence in Concrete Awards for Concrete Renovation Award.
