Aquatic Facility Design Featured in Aquatics International’s Dream Designs Issue

July’s issue of Aquatics International announced the 2013 Dream Designs Showcase projects which showcases outstanding aquatic facility design. Fort Scott Aquatic Center in Fort Scott, Kansas. BSE Structural Engineers provided structural design for the pool and buildings and collaborated with several others involved with the project.

BSE Structural engineers designed the pool and buildings based on goals the aquatic facility designer, Larkin Aquatics, had established during the design phase. Their primary focus was to update the existing aquatic facility, while maintaining the look and feel the previous swimming pool had provided for the community since 1936.They also wanted to create an aquatic facility designed to attract community members of all ages. Some of the new features include: an eight-lane competition area, zero-depth entry, shaded-water bench areas and a floatable walkway.
